This remarkable gig will feature some of the finest sax players in Europe, with a breathtaking 4-sax front line supported by Robin Aspland's exceptional piano trio. After taking the scene by storm in the early sixties with the Ronnie Scott quintet, Peter King has gone on to establish himself as one of the finest alto saxophonists in the world. His fabulous technique allied with an unerring sense of harmony has made him one of the greatest players this country has ever produced. An established International artist, as well as a remarkable improviser Peter is also a writer and arranger of considerable note.
Brandon Allen is an ex-pat Australian saxophonist whose wonderfully fluent and incisive sax playing has been heard in prestigious venues all over Europe as well as numerous international festivals. In London alone he has performed with the likes of Eric Clapton, Mica Paris, Jools Holland and Omar, making him one of the most in demand players on the scene. A “musician’s musician”, Alex Garnett's powerful, flowing, hard bop sax style has been heard with some of Europe's leading bands and creative jazz ensembles. He is the sideman of choice for many of the finest visiting artists and has himself performed in over 30 countries worldwide with artists such as Sir John Dankworth, Wynton Marsalis, Van Morrison and Jools Holland. Supporting these great players will be pianist Robin Aspland, a star in his own right who includes work with the likes of Van Morrison, Arturo Sandoval, Claire Martin and Cleo Laine on a stellar cv. And watch out for a Surprise Guest who will be joining this brilliant line up to make it not three but four great saxophonists under one roof!
