Londno Vocal Project 606 Club Chelsea Live Music Jazz London UKWe thought it would be appropriate to use this LJF night to mark the 25th Anniversary of the passing of one of jazz's most iconic figures, the pianist Bill Evans. Featuring the brilliant UK pianist Nikki Iles the evening will feature both originals and classic Bill Evans arrangements of jazz standards in formats closely associated with him. So the evening will start with a duo of piano and guitar, also featuring the wonderful guitarist Mike Outram as a tribute to the Evans/Hall collaboration, followed by a quartet featuring our special Guest Vocalist Cecilia Stalin (reflecting the Monica Z sessions). The second set begins with the classic trio format and we will finish the evening with a quintet performing some of Bill Evans's most iconic tunes. The Award-winning Nikki Iles is a performer, teacher and composer, widely regarded as one of the finest modern jazz pianists in Europe. Her fluent and creative playing has been heard with a wide variety of the finest UK musicians, including the likes of Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone and Tina May as well as with her own trios and quartets. A greatly respected teacher she is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Royal Academy of Music.
