Clayton Doley with special guest Lily Dior Photo 1

This is a special, one night only concert featuring two fantastic Australian musicians, vocalist Lily Dior and keyboardist/singer Clayton Doley. Both graduates of the Jackie Orszaczky school of funk & soul, Lily fronted Jackie’s band ‘The Godmothers’ in Sydney, while Clayton’s signature organ stylings were featured in various of Jackie’s ensembles. Clayton’s gone on to become a leading figure on the contemporary retro soul scene in his own right, while also working with an incredible roster of high-profile artists from Joe Bonamassa, Steve Cropper & Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn (Booker T & the MG’s, Blues Brothers) to Jimmy Barnes. Lily, a remarkable vocalist and in-demand performer who has shared the stage with a world-class array of musicians including Oscar Castro Neves, Airto Moriera, Don Grusin and Abe Laboriel to name a few, performed at prestige venues and festivals such as Adelaide Festival Theatre, Melbourne Concert Hall and the Sydney Festival before re-locating to London not that long ago! Since then, Lily’s been seen at Ronnie Scott’s, the 606 Club, Pizza Express and the London Jazz Festival. We’re delighted that Clayton, who’s in the UK touring with Australian soul and rock legend Ian Moss, will be reunited with Lily, his dear friend of long standing here at the 606! Joined by fellow Australian, Brandon Allen on sax, Quentin Collins-trumpet, Neville Malcolm-bass and Rod Youngs-drums, this will be an evening of Jazz, blues and boogaloo grooves dripping with soul.

“Clayton’s material is everything from amazing in a traditional sense to outright mind- blowing”. Reflections in Blue (USA); “Clayton Doley understands the groove to a T - Booker T., that is”. All Music (USA); “Jazz and soul coexist in Lily Dior’s repertoire, and in her vocal style... sassy, soulful, passionate and strong.” Rhythms magazine; "...ultra-precise articulation with an irresistibly sultry, yearning tone" Jazzwise
