Tonight the 606 Club features two of the finest Soul/Groove singers in the UK, Incognito’s Imaani and her special guest, Jamiroquai’s Nate Williams. A terrific singer in the Soul/R&B tradition, Imaani first came to prominence in 1998 as runner up in the Eurovision Song contest, producing the highly successful single “Where Are You” that charted around the world. She then recorded with Dub Conspiracy (with whom she again charted). Her worldwide tours, television, live and studio output since includes work with the likes of Gloria Gaynor, Carleen Anderson, Michael Bolton, Lulu and Beverley Knight. One of the featured singers for many years with the iconic band “Incognito”, her long anticipated debut album “Standing Tall” was released at the end of 2014.
Multi instrumentalist Nate Williams has been making waves for some time on the UK Groove scene, performing on bass, drums, keys, guitar and vocals (very talented man)! A bass-tutor at ICMP in London he includes work with a wide variety of contemporary artists, both live and in the studio, including the likes of Joss Stone, Eliza Doolittle, Katy B and Markus Feehily from Westlife. His first album “Got To Let Go” was received with significant acclaim and his most recent 5 track EP, “Them + Us”, had an equally positive response, making it in to the UK charts. However, it was when he joined the iconic band Jamiroquai in 2017 that he really started to attract the wider notice that he undoubtedly deserves. Now a regular touring member of that band he has unquestionably become one of the most talked about musicians on the current Groove scene. It was Imaani herself who asked Nate to sing with her on the gig this evening and we are all excited to welcome this enormously talented musician to the stage of the 606 Club for the first time.
