Described as “one of the most agile and original jugglers of improv and... composition”, Award-winning saxophonist/composer Trish Clowes has proven herself to be an exciting, world-class, musician of real creativity and skill. A former BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, she received the British Composer Award (BASCA) in 2015 with notable performances including the Barbican, Toronto Jazz Festival, Rochester International Jazz Festival (US), Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, Women in (e)motion Festival (Germany), National Opera House (Ireland), Galway Jazz Festival, and broadcasts for BBC 2 Proms Extra, BBC Radio 3 and Radio Bremen. With numerous critically acclaimed albums as leader to her name Trish is also a highly respected composer, with a PhD in Musical Composition, awarded by the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and commissions from the likes of the BBC Concert Orchestra, NDR Big Band (Germany), London Sinfonietta, National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain (for the BBC Proms 2022), Orchestra of the Swan and Architecture of Autonomy. Trish’s music video ‘Abbott & Costello’, directed by Rose Hendry, was shortlisted for Voice of a Woman Awards 2019, and screened at Cannes Lions Festival and Aesthetica Short Film Festival. Tonight Trish will be performing “a mix of music of my heroes Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, Eddie Harris, John Scofield & Antonio Carlos Jobim alongside some new music that I have written”. Trish has put together an outstanding group of players to join her including the multi-award-winning Nikki Iles-piano, along with Chris Montague-guitar, Conor Chaplin-bass & Ian Thomas-drums.
