Well, this is pretty special! Three of the original members of the Average White Band, singer/guitarist Hamish Stuart, drummer Steve Ferrone and saxophonist Molly Duncan, getting back together again with a band to die for. To set the scene we need to go back a little over 40 years. A group of young Scottish musicians are out in LA looking for a record deal when they approach Jerry Wexler from Atlantic Records, who loves the material he hears and signs them on the spot. They record part of the album in Miami and the rest in New York and in 1974 the eponymous "Average White Band" album is released. And a legendary band is born. By 1975 Steve Ferrone was on drums, "AWB" had gone Gold and the rest, as they say, is history. AWB in its original form eventually broke up in 1983 and the various members went on to impressive careers in their own right. Hamish, a good friend and supporter of the Club, continued as a successful songwriter and performer, working with the likes of Diana Ross, George Benson, Chaka Khan, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and Bill Wyman as well as, of course, with his own brilliant band who have been featured many times here. Molly Duncan has been much in demand as a session player and soloist all over Europe and has toured with the likes of Ray Charles, Buddy Guy and Eurythmics. And Steve Ferrone worked with the likes of Duran Duran, George Benson, Chaka Kahn, and Eric Clapton before eventually becoming the drummer for the iconic band "Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers", with whom he performed for over 20 years. Fast forward to 2014. Steve is about to be inducted into the Drummer’s Hall Of Fame in LA. so Molly and Hamish fly out to honour their old band mate and friend. They talk about getting back together again and in 2015 a series of gigs in London and Scotland materialise for which the project “360” is founded for the occasion. The gigs go very well and not only is a new band created, but they also have the opportunity to go into the studio to record a new album, "The Mighty Fall". Molly and Steve each bring a song to the album with the remainder coming from Hamish’s recent repertoire, plus a couple of classic covers. In October 2016, the band made their 606 Club debut to a rapturous response and promised to come back. Which brings us to the gig tonight, which will again feature these iconic musicians performing tracks from "The Mighty Fall" along with a stellar band, many of whom can be heard on the album. Appearing with Hamish, Steve and Molly will be Andy Caine-guitar/vocals, Adam Phillips-guitar, Ross Stanley & Jim Watson-piano/keyboard, Steve Pearce-bass plus The Horns. This is an amazing line up for what is truly a very special gig. Booking required.

“We love Stuart....he's still playing a superior blend of soul and jazz with a great band while his voice has that unique smoky soul allure.” Time Out; "Over the past four decades, Ferrone's impeccable taste, timing and groove have paid off handsomely..."
