VISITING THE 606 CLUB

Derek Nash 606 Club 2017 fisheye by TG 825x540Do I need to be a member of the Club to visit?
While our members receive discounts, priority seating and other benefits (read on), we welcome everyone here whether they are a member or not. In fact the great majority of our customers are not members!!

Do I need to make a reservation first?
While it’s not required, we do encourage you to book in advance to ensure we can accommodate you. If you want to come down without a booking, it’s a good idea to call us first to make sure there’s space (020 7352 5953).

Can I just come in and just have a drink / watch the show without eating?
Due to the conditions of our licence – which was granted in the 1980’s! – we are licenced as a restaurant, not a bar. Therefore, we can only serve alcohol to non-members who are dining with us. This means, if you aren’t a member we are not able to serve you alcohol without food.

(Our licence stipulates that “food” is equivalent to a main course. Or you could have two starters instead, that’s fine also.)

However, if we have space available, you are welcome to join us for soft drinks/coffee only. You will still pay the music charge, but won’t need to eat. We can’t take a booking for you on that basis, but if you contact us on 020 7352 5953 around 6:30pm day of show, we can let you know if we can accommodate you. Please do understand however that we cannot serve you alcohol if you’re not dining.

Members can visit us for a drink in the members bar without eating, that’s one of the benefits of being a member!

Can I book a specific table?
The Club is an intimate venue seating around 100 people, so all of our tables in the main room* have an excellent view. We cannot guarantee any specific seat, but you are welcome to make a general request & we’ll do our best to accommodate you if possible. Do bear in mind though that 606 members and people who book first can expect to take priority.

*There’s also a members bar area in the back with a restricted view. We will take bookings for dinner in the members bar when the main room is full, but we will always let you know.

What is the Club’s confirmation and cancellation policy?
Because we don’t take any payment in advance, we do ask our customers to confirm their booking with us by 3pm on the day of show. If we don’t hear from you, we will contact you on the phone number you’ve provided. If we can’t reach you after multiple attempts however there is a chance we will give your table away, so make sure to confirm with us! If you need to cancel your reservation, that’s not a problem – just let us know, the further in advance the better.

A cancellation list? How does that work?
When a show is fully booked we start a cancellation list. That means that, should a table become available because someone has cancelled their reservation, we will offer the table to the next person on the list (ranked in chronological order by date of booking request). Most cancellations occur on the day of show, but occasionally before – so if you get a call (or text message) from us and you’re on the list, do respond right away if you still want the table, or we’ll offer it to the next person!

I made a booking but received a reply from you saying you are fully booked and running a cancellation list. Why doesn’t the website say you are full?
Customers can (and often do) change their plans at the last minute – sometimes up to 50% of advance bookings are cancelled. Through many years of experience, we have learned we have to allow for this and therefore, we will continue to accept bookings through the website and start a cancellation list. As a small independent venue, we can’t afford to turn people away, especially when we may in fact be able to find them a table by day of show.

DURING YOUR VISIT

Does the 606 cater to special dietary requests, e.g. gluten free, vegan and so forth?
Absolutely. We do have both vegan and allergen menus – just ask your server. If you have specific concerns, please do advise us when making your booking and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Does the Club have a dress code?
We describe the dress code here as ‘smart casual’. However if you’re in the mood to dress up, by all means do! The only restriction we have is no shorts.

Can I bring my children/baby to the Club?
As the 606 has a restaurant licence, there are no age restrictions at the Club per se. We do encourage young people to visit us as long as they are supervised and don’t interrupt the performance - even very young children are permitted if they are quiet (though we don’t offer high-chairs or other child-specific seating). We are more flexible during our lunchtime shows which we describe as “family friendly”.

What is a ‘silent room’?
The focus is on the music here at the 606, and therefore we will ask for a ‘silent room’ doing many if not most of our performances, particularly if they are vocal-led. We expect the audience to keep any conversation to a minimum in the main room – if you must chat, you can go to the members bar area in the back so as not to disturb others enjoying the music. Of course, while the musicians are not playing, you can chat as you like.

GETTING HERE

606 exterior 2014 GW 865 crop printWhere are you located?
The Club is at 90 Lots Road SW10 0QD in Chelsea, near the Fulham border and across the road from the new Chelsea Waterfront development project (The Powerhouse) aka the site of the old Lots Road Power Station. LINK TO MAP

How do we get to the 606, are you near an underground station?
The Club is served by numerous train & bus routes. We are about a seven-minute walk from Imperial Wharf station (Mildmay line), about 12 minutes or so from Fulham Broadway (District) and a short bus ride from Earl’s Court (District/Piccadilly). Please visit our Contact/Find Us page for detailed instructions!

Where can I park?
Parking is very easy. As Lots Road has single yellow lines you can park right outside the door after 6:30pm, similarly the parking bays along the south side of the road also finish after 6:30pm so no problem there at all. One word of warning though, the resident's parking bays in the side streets are restricted until 10:00pm so make sure that if you are parking in a bay (as opposed to a single yellow line) that it's a "pay and display" bay and not resident's parking! Otherwise no problem. There are also several parking garages nearby.

GENERAL INFORMATION

How long has the 606 been around?
The Club has been owned and run by musician Steve Rubie since 1976 (making 2026 our 50 year anniversary). We moved to our current location in 1988. To learn more about our ‘origin story’, visit our About page.

I’d like to book the Club for a private event – what is the next step?
The club is available for private hire, and we have extensive experience coordinating events of all sorts, from birthdays and anniversaries to work do’s and film shoots. Visit our venue hire page for information and contact details!

How do I find out what artists will be performing at the Club?
We add our upcoming shows to the website as soon as we can; usually that’s four-eight weeks in advance of the performance date, though occasionally longer. You can also subscribe to our newsletter which comes out weekly, or sign up to our artist notification system for specific musicians you are interested in, which will notify you even further in advance (sort of like our own version of BandsinTown).

Do you sell gift vouchers?
Sure do! You can order a gift voucher in any amount from the office – visit our Shop page for details. We also sell t-shirts too by the way.

I'm a musician and I'd like to perform at the 606. What do I do?
Please send an email to jazz - at - 606club.co.uk with all your information, particularly links to live performance videos. If we think it’s a fit for the Club, we’ll get in touch. We do get quite a few requests, so it may take a while for us to reply; do feel free to send a follow up mail, particularly if you have a new album out or something newsworthy along those lines!

Do you host/do you know of any open mics?
The 606 doesn’t host open mic performances or jam sessions. However, there are several Facebook groups who do track open mics in London – search under “open mic London” on FB to find them.
