Alex Hitchcock with Special Guest: Krisztian Olah
“Alex Hitchcock…a fantastic talent”
Jazz FM
A two-time Ivor Novello award-nominated saxophonist and composer now splitting his time between London and New York, Alex Hitchcock’s impact on the jazz scene becomes more impressive with each passing year. Since emerging as leader he’s released four solo albums to critical acclaim, with the Guardian calling him a “virtuoso” while BBC Jazz World hailed him as “leading the charge…of new jazz music being created in the UK.” Tonight Alex is bringing his International Quartet to the Club featuring his Special Guest, Hungarian pianist Krisztian Olah, widely regarded as one of the finest musicians of his generation. With a raft of Awards to his name, including Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2016, he was the first Hungarian to be invited to the US Thelonious Monk Institute competition. Making up the rest of the quartet will be Michelangelo Scandroglio (Italy)-bass & Ferenc Dániel Szabó (Hungary)-drums. All the members of this highly talented quartet are composers, so their repertoire consists of originals plus some choice standards. An impressive pan-European band featuring four leading artists of the same generation, creating exciting and accessible music for today.
