Andrea Vicari Quartet ft Joao Driessen
Since receiving a scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music jazz pianist and composer Andrea Vicari has become an active and admired figure on the UK jazz scene. Multi-faceted and prolific, her CV features work with the likes of trumpeter Yazz Ahmed, Croatian guitarist Elvis Stanic, South African trumpeter Claude Deppa and US trumpeter Art Farmer at venues as diverse as Ronnie Scott’s and the Maritime Silk Road festival Quanzhou, China! A founder and musical director of the Dordogne International Jazz Summer School (now in its 25th year) she has 7 critically acclaimed albums to her name. Andrea’s Special Guest this evening will be the celebrated saxophonist Joao Driessen. Born in Amsterdam Joao spent his early years in London before moving back in 2003 to study Jazz at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Since then he has established himself on the European jazz scene as a saxophonist celebrated for his dynamic sound and captivating performances across a wide range of musical styles. Tonight Andrea, Joao and their quartet, Dorian Lockett-bass and Matt Fisher-drums will be performing material from Andrea’s two most recent albums, “Lost in Dreams” and “XChanges” in what promises to be a rare and exciting collaboration!
