““Cool-school jazz from emerging guitar talent Zaitz, whose John Scofield-ish sound takes in some loping New Orleans shuffles and moody cinematic themed originals””

Time Out

8:00PM ARTIE ZAITZ A scholarship recipient at Trinity College of Music, Artie hails from a family of musicians. His Dad is guitarist Jake Zaitz, seen regularly here at the Club with Blues legend Dana Gillespie, so it comes as no surprise that he was exposed to the sounds of jazz from an early age. He first came to our attention here at the Club, several years ago now, making quite an impression "sitting in" with Jake and the guys in Dana's band (something which he still does regularly) and he tells us he first came to the attention of Ronnie Scott's Late Show when he was regularly thrown out for being underage! Since graduating, though, he has become a regular feature at many of the top Jazz venues across London, regularly performing at the likes of Ronnie Scott's Late Late Show and The Kansas Smitty's Club and is the choice guitarist for a number of high profile musicians and singers, keeping up a busy schedule as a sideman around the UK jazz scene and beyond. Tonight Artie will be appearing at the Club with his "Hammond Combo", paying homage to the Blue Note recordings of the 60's era that he so loves, featuring the brilliant Hammond organist Ross Stanley, jazz-scene favourite Steve Brown on drums, and veteran of the Latin scene Dave Pattman on percussion. Over to Artie for a description of the band and music - "a quartet of four of London's most grooving, swinging musicians in an organ-based band, playing original blues-drenched tunes as well as arrangements of soul jazz & latin classics...a boogaloo extravaganza". Now that you can't miss! A rare talent.

9:45PM JAZZ FROM THE ROYAL ACADEMY OF MUSIC WITH THE ALISTAIR MARTIN BAND This gig is being presented in collaboration with The Royal Academy of Music, and is part of the Club’s ongoing policy of providing a platform for younger musicians.
