Clara Green Quartet (Album Launch)
The Clara Green Quartet – Swedish-born vocalist Clara Green (a former member of the premier vocal ensemble, London Vocal Project) and London-based musicians, pianist Bruno Heinen, bassist Andrea Di Biase and drummer Riccardo Chiaberta -first bonded over their mutual appreciation for the Bill Evans album ‘Waltz for Debby’. Inspired by this classic collaboration and with the idea of merging the folk music tradition of Sweden with jazz, they set about developing an original approach to textural and harmonic exploration, with a strong melodic core. Much of the material is composed by Clara, but the set also includes standards arranged by the group (and a charming cover of the Muppets ‘Being Green’, the title of their debut record they are launching this evening). For this show they will be joined by special guest, guitarist Harry Christelis, also on the album. Clara says to “expect everything from solos infused with Nordic cattle calling to inventive yet wholesome renditions of jazz standards”!
