“Joyous and uplifting music that comes highly recommended”

Jazz Views

Jazz trumpeter Gary Alesbrook started his professional career in 1999 working with the likes of Super Furry Animals and the Scissor Sisters before being asked in 2007 to join Kasabian, with whom he has been touring and recording ever since. In between Kasabian commitments he has also toured with artists such as Rag 'N' Bone Man and Nadine Coyle and recorded on the albums of numerous high profile artists including Tom Jones, KT Tunstall and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. But despite his successful popular music career Gary is very much a jazz musician at heart. His fluent and sophisticated trumpet and flugelhorn playing, much in the tradition of West Coast Jazz and influenced, as he says, “by such greats as Chet Baker, Stan Getz and Clark Terry” was highlighted on his critically acclaimed first album “Jazz In Movies”, released in 2018. Tonight Gary will be launching his much-anticipated second CD "The Stories We Tell Ourselves" which features much of his own writing. As he describes it: “All good stories take time to develop and I've taken my time to craft 11 original songs. This is a very personal album for me and reflects on themes of love, relationships and identity”. And to help him launch this excellent album he has asked one of the singers featured on the CD to join him, the highly impressive Elliott Cole, whose vocal abilities have started to attract serious International attention of late. Elliott’s star has risen with remarkable alacrity over the last couple of years, seeing him travel around the UK and Europe singing with the likes of Joss Stone, Solomon Burke and Beverley Knight. Completing the band this evening will be Matt Carter-piano, Adam King-bass and Luca Carusso-drums. This is a rare chance to see this talented West Country based musician in London and highly recommended.
