Giulio Romano Trio
After extensive studies in his native Italy guitarist Giulio Romano came to London in 2011…and never left. He quickly gained work as a studio player, live performer and composer in an eclectic variety of styles and settings, including work with the likes of Award-winning guitarist Antonio Forcione, world harmonica champion Greg Miller and Grammy award-winning producer/musician Phil Ramacon. He has released four albums under his own name (as well as appearing as a sideman on many more) and is also well established in the Gypsy Jazz world with his swing band “Gypsy Dynamite”. For this show, Giulio has chosen a selection of jazzy and groovy tunes from the 70's and 80's with numbers by some of the greats such as Pat Metheny, Larry Carlton, George Duke and Quincy Jones, along with his original compositions from his latest album ‘Adriatic Soul’. Joining Giulio on the stand are two of the finest UK players, keyboardist Chris Jerome (Courtney Pine, Shez Raja) & drummer Nicolas Py (Yolanda Charles, Second Brain).
“...a skilled player of jazz, funk and fusion…Romano displays an impressive fluency on both…acoustic and electric…and his…playing is of a remarkably high standard” The JazzMann
