“Davison…in particularly fine form with an emotive trumpet solo… effervescent…thrilling”
The Jazz Mann
Recipient of the Worshipful Company of Musicians Young Jazz Musician of the Year Award, trumpeter James Davison works with premier ensembles across both jazz and classical music styles including the BBC Big Band, London Symphony & Royal Philharmonic Orchestras and as well as popular West End shows such as the Book of Mormon. Also appearing at the Club regularly with his own group “Quintet-a-Tete”, co-led with Callum Au and featuring the music of Clark Terry and Bob Brookmeyer, James is a powerful force on the UK scene. But tonight James will be joined by the wonderful young trombone player, Rory Ingham. Hailing from Yorkshire via Fife, Scotland, Rory has emerged as a top trombonist on the UK’s fertile jazz scene. A graduate of the Royal Academy, he was named ‘Rising Star’ in the 2017 British Jazz Awards, ‘One to Watch’ in Jazzwise’s 2018 ‘Shape of Jazz to Come’ annual picks, and ‘Student of the Year’ 2018 by the British Trombone Society. Along with their quintet featuring Sam Watts-piano, Calum Gourlay-bass & Dave Ingamells-drums James & Rory will explore the classic repertoire of the great trumpet & trombone partnerships in joyous, swinging fashion - a great night out!
