“A singing sensation… her voice is amazing…a class act”

Bebop Spoken Here

A talented singer inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, Jo Harrop possesses a wonderfully clear, controlled and expressive voice. Already highly experienced she includes performances at venues such as the Jazz Cafe, Royal Albert Hall, the Sage Gateshead, Pizza Express and St. Martins In The Fields and has been featured on the likes of Courtney Pines' Radio 2 show 'Jazz Crusade', Jazz FM and BBC Radio London. Her album 'Weathering the Storm' also featuring guitarist Jamie McCredie and released in 2020 received glowing reviews ("a little gem" Guardian), and in 2022, Jo was nominated for two Parliamentary Jazz Awards, Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year, for her latest album, "The Heart Wants". Featuring bassist Christian McBride, it gained glowing 4 and 5 star reviews in several publications, including The Guardian, Jazzwise, The Mirror, All About Jazz USA & even reached number 16 in the US Jazz album charts. This 606 performance, subtitled 'The Art of Song' will feature Sam Watts-piano, Jamie McCredie-guitar, Jihad Darwish-bass, Saleem Raman-drums and special guest Alex Hitchcock on tenor sax. And it's also the night before Jo's birthday, making the occasion that much more special! A treat for those who like their jazz hip, swinging and heartfelt.

"This girl was born to sing jazz!" Blues & Soul; “A singing sensation… her voice is amazing…a class act” BeBop Spoken Here; "A rare mix of delicacy and boldness, sheer perfection" The Guardian
