“melody, mystery and bite”

MOJO Magazine

Joanna Eden first established herself as a singer, pianist and songwriter to watch in the 2000’s with a breakout album on Universal Records, airplay on the BBC and tours with the likes of Jamie Cullum, the Buena Vista Social Club, Ronan Keating and the Blockheads. She has written over 60 original songs, was a featured judge on BBC One’s singing programme ‘All Together Now’ and is also a sought-after vocal coach (her student Sam Smith, whom she first started working with when he was ten, is now an international mega star). Her live show combines the energy and rhythmic virtuosity of Latin music with the intimacy and honesty of her acclaimed jazz-influenced originals. Joanna will be showcasing material from her upcoming album, which features songs written by Joanna and Uruguayan bassist Andres Lafone (Airto Moreira, Snowboy, Basia), who is also in the band this evening along with guitarist Guille Hill and drummer Marius Rodrigues. With its distinctly Latin flavour combined with Joanna’s gorgeous voice, infectious joy and unbounded enthusiasm this is a really lovely, feel-good, gig.
