Jocelyn Gould ft Anthony Kerr Photo 1

Tonight we welcome the impressive Canadian guitarist and singer Jocelyn Gould and her quartet featuring one of the world’s leading exponents of jazz vibraphone, Anthony Kerr. The 2021 winner of Canada’s most prestigious music award, the Juno for ‘Best Jazz Album-Solo’, Jocelyn has gone from strength to strength over the past several years, performing and recording internationally as a leader and with Grammy-nominated vocalist Freddy Cole, JUNO-winning trumpeter and vocalist Bria Skonberg, DownBeat Rising Star trombonist Michael Dease, Etienne Charles and more. Citing Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, Joe Pass and Wes Montgomery as her primary influences, she joyfully embodies their style and musicality while updating it for a 21st century audience. As a singer, she is just as enchanting and at this show, we’ll hear music from Jocelyn’s latest album, ‘Portrait of Right Now’ as well as previous releases. Accompanied by vibraphonist Kerr (George Shearing, Elvis Costello, Claire Martin, Jacqui Dankworth, Guy Barker, Georgie Fame, Charlie Watts), bassist Mark Hodgson and drummer Stephen Keogh this promises to be a magical evening from one of the finest guitarists on the jazz scene today.

“From the start, opening with her own composition ‘Trail Blazer’, it was clear to see what an exceptional virtuoso Jocelyn Gould is” London Jazz News; “a jaw-dropping display of guitar prowess” Belleville Intelligencer (Canada); “…a finely-tuned work of art – mainstream post-bop and neo-bop that prefers to swing” RhythmChanges.ca
