Joe Webb's '5 A Side'
Originally from Wales, pianist Joe Webb has become a force to be reckoned with on the UK jazz scene. He’s worked with Hailey Tuck, Adrian Cox and more, but it is with the Kansas Smitty’s House Band, the swinging, mainstream jazz outfit dubbed London’s ‘new swing princes’ that his profile has reached new heights, including appearing on Jamie Cullum’s Christmas album. Now signed to Edition Records, Joe's own 2024 recording 'Hamstrings & Hurricanes' appeared in numerous 'Best of' lists with the Times saying, "With his talent, Webb really could be the bearer of jazz to Gen X & beyond". For this 606 show, Joe will be leading his "5 A Side" quintet featuring the brilliant sax playing of Alex Garnett (making a special appearance at this show) and the swinging guitar of Dave Archer. Wonderful stuff.
“[Webb]…a dazzling display of virtuoso pianistics, combining rhythmic sophistication and complexity with a dazzling variety of piano styles.” The JazzMann: "Joe Webb, a young virtuoso who’s playing has been causing proverbial jaws to drop for a while now" London Jazz
