Kaidi Akinnibi
Although his fluent and thoughtful playing is rooted in the classic jazz genres, growing up in South London and learning from the Kinetika Bloco and the Jazz Warriors families, saxophonist Kaidi Akinnibi has always had a multi-faceted outlook on music. This can be seen in the eclectic variety of artists he works and writes with, including the likes of Tom Misch, Black Midi, Blue Lab Beats, Celeste & Mark Kavuma’s Banger Factory. His own music is, as he puts it “more vocal orientated, taking its influence from a broad base of electronica, Jazz and Classical music to create soundscapes reminiscent of movie soundtracks”. Though still in his early 20’s, Kaidi is already making his presence strongly felt on London’s vibrant, creative jazz scene. This promises to be a fascinating night of contemporary music of the highest quality-catch Kaidi and his band in the 606 Club’s intimate setting while you still can.
