Liane Carroll, Ian Shaw & Claire Martin – Benefit for Baby Robin

Liane Carroll, Ian Shaw & Claire Martin are three of the UK’s finest jazz performers. The recipients of innumerable accolades, awards and rave reviews they are unquestionably amongst the finest performers the UK can offer. So, what brings these good friends and remarkable artists together for this special EFG London Jazz Festival show?
His name is Robin, he is 20 months old and he suffers from neuroblastoma, an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer. He has already had numerous operations and invasive treatments in his short life, but unfortunately that’s not the end of the story. In the hopes of preventing a relapse he needs additional treatment which is currently not available in the UK. This medically recognised and potentially lifesaving treatment needs to be paid for, and at £70,000 a visit it’s not cheap.
So, why here at the Club and why are these great musicians stepping up? Well, Robin’s dad Nick is an extremely talented musician and composer who first started coming to the 606 Club back in the day when he was a student - he is very much “one of our own”. Robin himself has been to the Club quite recently (he brought his parents with him) and we can confirm that not only is he a tough fighter, he is also bright, sparky and absolutely adorable!
The first set of tonight’s show will feature Ian and Claire (who have worked together on many occasions) followed by Liane and her Trio who will perform during the second half. And who knows, we may just see a bit of a jam at the end…
