Lucy Pickering's Court & Spark (Album Launch)
Based in the Brighton area, Lucy Pickering has been a professional singer for over 20 years, working with a variety of projects including the Chris Coull Big Band, The Blue Calluna Band and Terry Pack’s Trees, where she appeared at both the South Coast and Love Supreme Jazz Festivals. But tonight, she brings her own project ‘Court and Spark’ to the Club for the release of their album, “Mermaid Café”. A jazz tribute to Laurel Canyon songwriters, it offers fresh jazz interpretations of songs by Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Rickie Lee Jones, and James Taylor. As Lucy says the album is “a collection that balances familiarity with originality, blending lyrical storytelling and jazz harmony in a distinctive and accessible way.” And along with Lucy on vocals and keyboards, the band includes Beccy Rork-saxophone; Andy Williams-guitar; Terry Pack-bass and Milo Fell-drums. They been playing to great acclaim across the South of England and are delighted to be bringing their unique sound to London audiences!
“Lucy’s voice, her capacity for story-telling in song, her fine enunciation…and skilled piano accompaniment… a classy, ego-less performance…we…loved it” Sussex Jazz
