“"She has a seductive voice and natural talent for singing"”
El Periodico (Spain)
Originally from Belo Horizonte in Brazil, Luna Cohen has been making quite an impact on the UK world music scene of late. Luna initially settled in Spain in the early 2000's where she first studied music, and over the following 10 years or so established herself as a Brazilian singer of considerable note within the Spanish musical community. However, looking to broaden her artistic horizons she relocated to London in 2014, which was definitely our gain. Her classic, smooth but powerful vocals have been heard in a variety of high profile settings, but it is probably her recent work with the "house" Brazilian band Samara that has received most attention here at the Club. An excellent vocalist she has already recorded 3 albums under her own name for the well-respected Spanish label Temps Records, her debut album, "Estrada do Sol" winning the 2013 Enderrock award for Best New Jazz Album, and recently she launched the 4th in that series, “November Sky”, here at the Club. Tonight Luna will be accompanied by her brilliant International band, a combination of some of the finest exponents of Brazilian music in the UK: Sam Watts (UK)-piano, Rob Luft (UK)-guitar, Matheus Nova (Brazil)-bass and Marius Rodrigues (Brazil)-drums.
