Lunchtime Special: Fleur Stevenson Photo 1

Brought up on Classical and Ecclesiastical music Fleur Stevenson discovered jazz in her late teens and everything changed! After establishing a reputation on her local scene she went to gain her Associate Trinity College London (ATCL) diploma in jazz singing and performance with distinction. Since then, under the tutelage of one of the queens of British jazz, Claire Martin, she has developed a real grasp of the jazz idiom, a delightful voice and a sparkling presentation. She enjoys collaborations with many wonderful musicians and has performed at numerous high profile venues across the UK, including Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club and Pizza Express Jazz Club, Soho. A talented singer, Fleur takes classic jazz standards and coats them in honey. Fleur is currently working on her debut album, which will include, in addition to the well-loved standards that she does so well, “obscure vintage pop songs arranged in a jazz style, for example a samba arrangement of King Crimson’s “I Talk to the Wind”. Joining Fleur on the stand today will be her pianist/MD/ arranger Pete Billington, the outstanding tenor saxophonist Brandon Allen and the award-winning bassist Adam King. Excellent straight ahead jazz from one of the UK’s upcoming jazz singers.

"Fleur Stevenson is a wonderful singer with a great musical ear and natural jazz feel'' Claire Martin OBE
