Lunchtime Special: Rachel Sutton, Jo Harrop & Eileen Hunter: "We Meet Again"
Sunday 24th November 2019 - 1:30 pm
Music Charge: £12.00
Following their joint triumph in last year's EFG London Jazz Festival, we have asked back not one but three of our favourite singers to perform both separately and together in what has proven to be a delightful, fun-filled and unique afternoon of great music. With a rich tone and sense of swing, Rachel Sutton's performances include standards and show tunes along with her own arrangements of more modern popular songs, plus the occasional original. A consummate artist her winning onstage persona will charm any audience! Inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, Jo Harrop performs a beautiful, straight-ahead set of timeless jazz favourites. A rising star on the UK Jazz scene she includes appearances at the likes of the Jazz Cafe, Royal Albert Hall, the Sage Gateshead and Pizza Express on an impressive cv and has been featured on Courtney Pines’ Radio 2 show ‘Jazz Crusade’, Jazz FM and BBC Radio London. Eileen Hunter is not only a wonderful vocalist with a lovely, breathy delivery but also a highly accomplished musician, fluent on both piano and flute. Signed to Jive Records in 2003 her first CD “I Miss the Sky” was released through Jazz FM and she has worked at venues including the Royal Albert Hall and Regents Park Open Air Theatre as well as the 606 for many years.
Accompanying these wonderful singers will be a rhythm section that includes Roland Perrin-piano. This is promises to be a special concert featuring artists of the highest calibre who are really excited at the prospect of working together once again. As Eileen said “Really looking forward to this!”…as are we all!
