“Mina Agossi…exquisite… her fluid voice full of jazz spirit”

Le Monde

Born in France in 1972 to French and West African parents, singer & composer Mina Agossi is a captivating performer with a unique style and delivery. She first came to attention in 1995 when she co-produced an album of original tunes entitled “Voice & Bass”, using no wind, brass or keyboard instruments. After working with the likes of iconic US saxophonist Archie Shepp and pianist Ahmad Jamal, in 2001 she produced her first live album, “E-Z Pass to Brooklyn”, eponymously incorporating elements of hip hop, world music, blues and rock. Named ‘Best Newcomer’ at the 2005 Adami Awards, Mina subsequently appeared at numerous festivals and clubs around the world. Her latest album 'Dynamic' is a tribute to the late renowned American black jazz vocalist Dinah Washington. Born in Alabama when racial segregation was the norm, Washington became one of the most popular & versatile singers of the 1950’s who found success in jazz and popular music alike, amassing dozens of hits before her tragic death at the age of 39. Mina will be joined by the wonderful bassist Eric Jacot, with whom she’s been working for over 20 years, along with the highly regarded and sought-after French pianist Jérémy Bruger and producer Marc Charrière (Peter Gabriel), who produced Mina’s last album “Lonely Whales”. Mina is a truly distinctive & innovative artist who never ceases to surprise.

“Mina Agossi…exquisite… her fluid voice full of jazz spirit” Le Monde; “You will find, sensuality, fantasy, seduction and natural vocal effects and the goal not to imitate anyone” Telerama; “Her sensual voice is...the energy of the band.” Jazz New; "inflected, effortless and beguiling. Agossi makes jazz singing sound as natural as breathing" BBC; "...The Bjork of jazz - unpredictable and whimsical" Manchester Evening News
