Polly Gibbons
“a truly exceptional…..talent, possessing a voice of such sizzling intensity and raw emotion you could fry an egg on it”
Jazzwise
Polly Gibbons is one of the most respected and talked-about singers of her generation. A consummate performer with a rich, soulful voice and a truly distinctive style, Polly is as much at home singing tender jazz ballads as she is rockin' R&B classics. Nominated for Vocalist of the Year by both Jazz FM and the BBC, she was signed to US label Resonance Records, recording three critically acclaimed albums and touring extensively, notably performing at the Montreal Jazz Festival and the legendary Birdland Jazz Club, NYC.
In 2022, Polly fulfilled a long-standing ambition with the release of "As It Is" - an album of all-original songs written, arranged, and produced by Polly alongside co-producer and Artistic Director of Ronnie Scott’s, James Pearson. This evening, Polly's band features Phil Merriman-keyboards, Al Cherry-guitar, Eoin Walsh-bass and Saleem Raman-drums... and don't miss her special guest, the gifted singer-songwriter Grace Mann who will play two songs from her upcoming EP. Polly is a very old friend of the club (she performed her first London gig here "back in the day"), so it is always a pleasure to welcome this remarkable singer back to the 606!
"There’s a rare sense of joy in her voice, not to mention a depth of….feeling….remarkable”
