Rachael Cohen
A beautifully fluent and inventive alto saxophonist Rachael Cohen is widely considered one of the leading voices of her generation. Also a respected composer and arranger, she is the first female artist to be signed to Whirlwind Records and has been listed in American magazine ‘Downbeat’ as a “Rising Star” two years in succession. A sure sign of the esteem in which we hold her playing, Rachael was featured at our 2025 ‘Sax Summit’, one of our EFG London Jazz Festival flagship events. In addition, she leads her own Trio with New York drummer Jason Brown (Joey Defrancesco, Monty Alexander) and her Quartet, ft vibraphonist Lewis Wright (Empirical). And, if that’s not enough, she has toured with Blue Note supergroup ‘Artemis’ led by pianist Renee Rosnes. Rachael’s quartet this evening is made up of three terrific jazz musicians, 2016 Musician’s Company’ “Young Jazz Musician Award” recipient Will Barry-piano, along with Tom Sheen-bass and Kai Macrae-drums.
