“SAMARA” is a five-piece jazz/Latin group led by the 606 Club's own "Guv'nor" Steve Rubie on sax and flute, and suffice it to say we all think the guys in the band are just great! Vocalist Luna Cohen is considered to be one of the finest of the new Brazilian vocalists in Europe, with an unerring gift for melody and phrasing, while bassist Andy Lafone has worked with Snowboy and Da Lata. This month Samara includes two special guests: Brazilian drummer Marius Rodriguez, who plays with Luna Cohen in her band will be behind the kit, and Steve Lodder, who has worked with everyone from Andy Sheppard, Carla Bley, and John Etheridge to Paul McCartney and Monica Vasconcelos is on keys. The music is an infectious blend of Brazilian Samba, jazz/Latin and Soul, and everyone has a great time!
