“..one of the brightest sparks on an increasingly lively UK young-jazz scene”
8:00pm: SARAH TANDY Pianist Sarah Tandy has, with her impressive technique and lyrical improvising, over a relatively short time established herself as one of the leading musicians of her generation. A former finalist of the BBC Musician of the Year in 2002 and an alumna of the Royal Academy of Music she has swiftly risen to become one of the most in-demand players on the scene, appearing with the likes of Jazz Jamaica, Camilla George, Nubya Garcia, Gilad Atzmon and Clark Tracey. Her own trio was invited in 2015 to perform at the Ronnie Scott’s International Piano Trio Festival supporting Robert Glasper and she has also been a member of the W3 Collective, the Upstairs at Ronnie Scott's House Band. Festival Appearances include Love Supreme Festival and Berlin Jazz Festival. A genuinely creative artist, she describes her music as "being shaped by London's thriving and diverse live music scene, where jazz is the shared language in an ever-shifting musical landscape". Tonight she will be performing a selection of classic jazz standards along with the occasional original. Well worth catching.
