Sunday Lunch: Alice Milburn
Winner of The Portsmouth Music Awards ‘People’s Choice Act of The Year Award’ 2026. An award-winning vocalist, composer and multi-instrumentalist, Alice Milburn is an exciting new voice on the UK jazz scene. Citing influences from the likes of Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae and Mark Murphy her performances highlight her rich tone, imaginative improvisation and expressive storytelling. A former member of NYJO (9th), she has toured with Strictly Come Dancing vocalist Tommy Blaize and has performed at the likes of Ronnie Scott’s and the Royal Albert Hall. Making her 606 Club debut Alice will be joined by her outstanding quartet featuring Saul Hughes-piano, Alice Britton-bass and Josh Thorn-drums performing music from Alice’s critically acclaimed debut album, "First Expressions". The music will be a collection of original compositions plus fresh interpretations of jazz standards as she says “exploring themes of love, vulnerability and first impressions”.
“There’s a throw your head back gleefulness to the Milburn vocal…and the formidable scatting…so when the words return it’s like she has shed a skin and found a new carefree spirit inside” Marlbank
