“Tammy Weis..the magic of a great and great is what she is”

BBC Radio 3

A fine Canadian-born singer Tammy Weis has been working in London for more than a decade, during which time both her performances and her writing have moved her to the forefront of the UK jazz scene. Her latest CD “Where I Need To Be”, features her excellent original material written with Grammy Award-winning producer Terry Britten and pianist Tom Cawley, with one of her co-writes from that album “Everyone But Me”, being included on an album produced by Michael Bublé. Jamie Cullum, Bobby McFerrin and Randy Bachman are just a few of the high-profile artists with whom she has performed and another of her songs was recorded by an “American Idol” finalist for his CD. For this gig Tammy tells us: "Tonight I will be looking to delve deep into the great American Songbook, uncovering personal favourites and following in the footsteps of giants of the genre, such as Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Nat King Cole". With a musical background that encompasses a wide variety of styles her wonderful sound and approach integrate her rich and diverse influences into a unique and captivating whole. Accompanying her this evening will be her standout band: Al Cherry on guitar, Julie Walkington on bass and Dave Ohm on drums. Great singer, great players, great gig this.

“Tammy Weis…a true Singer-Songwriter…brilliant vocals delivering her poignant lyrics straight to my soul. Remember her name!” Jazz FM; "...her voice is beautiful" BBC Radio 4; “She’s the real deal” Time Out; “Tammy Weis..the magic of a great and great is what she is” BBC Radio 3
