“Minton...one of the leading contemporary harpists in Europe”

Artistic Director, Cambridge Jazz Festival

From Melbourne, Australia, jazz vocalist & harpist Tara Minton has established an international reputation as a gifted performing artist and educator since relocating to London in the spring of 2011. Tara has worked with Björk, Tom Walker and Eurovision's SuRie and along with her band, has performed at some of London's most iconic venues. In addition,Tara recently completed her masters in jazz at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and is the recipient of a Guildhall scholarship and the Andrew Loewenthal Award given through the Tait Memorial Trust. For this 606 performance Tara and her Trio (Pete Letanka-piano, Ed Babar-double bass & Jon Ormston-drums) will be joined by a very special guest, the multi-award-winning jazz pianist, composer & fellow Australian Joe Chindamo. With 23 albums recorded under his own name and as well as work on over 60 film scores, Joe also toured with famed US drummer Billy Cobham for years and supported jazz singer Dianne Reeves on her Australian tour in 2006, amongst numerous other high profile gigs. The music will feature a fresh set of original music by Minton and Letanka, plus arrangements of songs by Mingus, Ellington, Taylor, Lennon & McCartney, Mseleku and more. As Tara says, “from Melbourne with love - Tara and Joe bring the best of jazz from "Down Under" to the 606!”
