Tommaso Starace Organ Trio - Album Launch
Italo-Australian saxophonist Tommaso Starace moved from Milan to the UK to study, first at Birmingham Conservatoire and later at the Guildhall School Of Music and Drama where he gained a postgraduate degree in jazz studies. He has performed at many of the top European jazz clubs and festivals, and has worked with some of the most respected jazz musicians including Billy Cobham, David Liebman, Kenny Wheeler and Stan Sulzmann. He's also collaborated with Oscar award-winning film composer Dario Marianelli ('Atonement' and 'Pride and Prejudice') recording music for 'This Little Life', a BBC drama for Channel Four. With 10 albums already to his name, tonight Tommaso is performing at the Club for the first time as a band leader to launch his latest organ trio album 'Live at the Beaver Inn'. Featuring Martin Jenkins-Hammond organ and Pip Harbon-drums, not only will the trio play tracks from the album but they'll also be exploring some of the more unusual jazz repertoire from composers such as Monk, Kenny Barron, Cedar Walton & Benny Golson. Expect an evening of hard swinging music fueled by lots of energy and adrenaline.
"An excellent album worthy of the vintage Blue Note or Prestige label" Lance Liddle (Bebop Spoken Here Blog); “Anyone who has experienced a glissando of language on the streets of Italy will understand the utter exuberance with which Italian-born Starace attacks and runs with the language of music” Paul Medley, The Oxford Times
