+ THE ZEALOTS (SUPPORT)

This London-based soul ensemble began life as an instrumental recording project founded by producer, composer & bassist Holley Gray. Joined by guitarist Ross Ewart, drummer Chris Nickolls and keys player Steve Pringle (all well-known on the studio and live scene), they began writing new, authentic soul music, inspired by artists such as Al Green, Aretha, Black Pumas, Sharon Jones and Alabama Shakes. The band truly came into their own when they linked up with singer/songwriters Jess Greenfield and Gavin Conder (aka The Kondoors), who added lyrics and vocal melodies to their songs. Between them, these musicians have worked with high-profile artists such as Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Emile Sande, Rudimental, Rod Stewart, Michael Kiwanuka, Brian May & Tom Jones among others.

Now called Wonder 45, they have received critical praise and radio play on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast show among other outlets for their current single 'Cry', with their next song ‘Make it Happen’ to be released end of January (and the full album coming out in May). Describing their music as ‘packed full of feeling… crafted with tremendous loving care and the utmost attention to detail’, for this 606 show the line-up also includes Matthew Mcnaughton-sax and Paul Jordanous-trumpet. We can’t wait to hear them here at the Club!

“In the throngs of pursuing ecstatic musical heights…like a 21st century Joe Cocker" Blues & Soul Magazine; "Joyous" Zoe Ball, BBC Radio2 Breakfast Show; "Absolutely Brilliant" Brendan Farrell, The Face Radio Brooklyn
