The Award-winning Japanese singer Yuko Yokoi arrived in London to complete her Masters in Jazz at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance...and never left. On graduation she received the TCM Trust and Archers Scholarship and since that time, has performed at numerous renowned London venues such as Crazy Coqs (as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival), Pizza Express Dean Street and The Vortex, as well as Beco das Garrafas (Rio de Janeiro) and JazzB (São Paulo). Yuko’s debut album ‘Verde’, launched here at the Club a few years back expresses her absolute love of both Brazilian and contemporary jazz music, describing her approach as “full of improvisation and musical shades of light and colour in a minimalistic style.” Joining Yuko on the stand is an impressive band of London’s finest musicians-saxophonist Duncan Eagles, pianist Sam Watts, bassist Max Luthert and percussionist Jansen Santana. A lovely, atmospheric show for a Sunday afternoon.
