David Preston ‘Mu-tet’ w/ Rasmus Sørensen, Emma Rawicz, Marc Michel & Freddie Jensen
A finalist at the Montreux International Guitar competition, David Preston is composer and co-leader for the acclaimed UK modern-jazz trio ‘Preston Glasgow Lowe’. He includes work with the likes of Melody Gardot, Curtis Stigers, David Binney, Gary Husband, Eska & Goldie on an impressive cv and released his debut album ‘Purple / Black’ in April 2023 to significant acclaim (“Editor’s Choice” Jazzwise). Tonight he will be appearing with his quintet, performing his impressive, melodic and evocative originals alongside the occasional jazz standard. Featured with the group will be the Danish pianist, composer and improviser Rasmus Sørensen. Attending the Manhattan School of Music Jazz Arts program in New York, where he was mentored by some of the greatest living musicians and educators including Buster Williams, Phil Markowitz, Stefon Harris, Dayna Stephens and others of that ilk, he’s since become one of the busiest pianists in New York City with performances at prestigious venues such as The Jazz Gallery, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, Smalls Jazz Club, Mezzrow, Close Up and the now-closed (but greatly missed) 55 Bar. A remarkable talent at just 23 years old, saxophonist Emma Rawicz is recognised as one of the most exciting voices in contemporary jazz. A BBC New Generation Artist (2024–26), she has released three critically acclaimed albums ("Incantation", "Chroma", "Big Visit") and is signed to the prestigious ACT label. The quintet is completed by Freddie Jensen-bass & Marc Michel-drums – an outstanding collaboration not to be missed.
